“Canada will stand by Antigua”
The Canadian government is sending a team to the Antigua who will then travel to Barbuda to determine what help Canada can provide to victims of hurricane Irma, which left the island devastated on September 6th.
The government of Canada is concerned by the devastation caused by Hurricane Irma and has expressed its condolences to all the people that have been affected by the monster storm.
Prime Minister Gaston Browne, speaking at a special sitting of Parliament, said that the Canadian Government under the Leadership of Justin Trudeau, will stand by Antigua and assist with relief efforts for our Irma battered sister isle of Barbuda.
Canada will also be contributing US$100,000 to the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency, as well as an additional US$60,000 to support medical charities in the region.
The team is expected to arrive today at 5 pm at the V.C. Bird Int’l Airport .
